Indian Railway To Enforce New Covid Guidelines To Enhance Passenger Safety
As part of the continuous process to ensure safety of all rail passengers, Indian Railways has been taking several special measures as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs from time to time to contain the spread of Covid-19. Since the resumption of the passenger train services both in reserved and unreserved sectors, Railways has been frequently advising the passengers to always follow all Covid protocols at the Railway premises, both for their own safety as well for the safely of co-passengers.
In view of the current pandemic situation, to enhance die safety of passengers and to ensure further containment of the virus, a-few new Covid protocols will be enforced. The following protocols may strictly be followed:
1. Travel Protocol for Passenger without confirmed ticket:
- Waitlisted passengers aren’t permitted to travel and cannot book tickets on trains by paying fines.
- Unreserved passengers are permitted only on trains having Unreserved coach facility.
2. Catering on Trains:
- There will be no pre-paid catering facility. Catering charges not included in fare.
- Only Ready-to-Eat Meals & Packaged items (including Water Botdes) are provided in trains.
- E-Catering facility available through IRCTC
3. Linen on Trains:
- No Linen, blankets & Curtains will be provided in trains.
- Passengers are encouraged to bring dieir own material or purchase from Multi-purpose stalls at stations.
- Temperature in AC Coaches will be regulated accordingly.
4. Protocols regarding entry and movement of Passengers:
- All Rail passengers should compulsorily wear “Face Masks” at stations as well as on trains, through-out the entire train journey.
- Passengers should strictly maintain “Social Distancing Pattern” at stations and on trains
- Passengers are advised to carry sanitizers during die journey.
- Fully waitlisted tickets shall not be allowed to enter the Railway station.
- Only those passengers found asymptomatic in thermal screening will be permitted to travel.
- On arrival to destination station, passengers are advised to stricdy adhere to health protocols of the destination State/Union Territory.
- Passengers are advised to use the Aarogya Setu application.
The fight against spread of Corona Virus needs joint efforts by all. Therefore, Railways earnestly appeals to all the rail users to ensure that they act with responsibility and support the endeavor of Railways for ensuring a safe journey.
